Does eero replace my current router?

Yes, eero is designed to replace your current router. However, you can use eero alongside your existing router if needed. While we don't recommend this setup, it's possible and may be necessary for some networks.

How do I use eero with my existing router?

When using eeros alongside other routers, we recommend putting either your existing router or your eeros into bridge mode. This ensures you maintain a single SSID and minimizes interference.

Your eeros will still use mesh technology to increase your network's range and speed in either configuration.

Bridge mode options

If you bridge your eeros:

  • Your existing router will manage your network traffic

  • Your eeros will act as access points only

  • You'll lose access to advanced networking features in the eero app

If you bridge your existing router:

  • Your eeros will manage your network traffic

  • You'll keep access to all eero app features

That's why we recommend bridging your existing router instead of your eeros.
