How do I share my eero network with guests?

eero lets you share your wifi with visitors using your main network or a separate guest network. You can create and manage a guest network in the eero app.

How do I create a guest network?

From the Home tab

  • Open the eero app.

  • From the Home tab, tap the (box with arrow icon) in the top-right corner.

  • Tap the toggle next to Enable guest network to allow devices to connect to your guest network.

From the Settings tab

  • Open the eero app.

  • From the Settings tab, tap Guest wifi network.

  • Tap the toggle next to Enable guest network.

  • Tap Save in the top-right corner.

Once you have enabled your guest wifi network, you can edit the network name and password as needed.

Note: Your guest network name must be different from your main network name. To keep your guest network secure, we recommend choosing a different password from your main network.

Removing the guest network password

Removing your guest network password will allow anyone within range to connect to your guest network without credentials.

  • Delete your existing password so that the wifi network password field is empty.

  • Tap Save.

  • Review the message "By leaving your password blank, you're choosing to turn off your Wifi protection. Do you want to continue?"

  • Tap Yes when you're ready.

How do I share my guest network credentials?

To share your network's login information, give your visitors the network name and password, or tap Share wifi details to send them the credentials through SMS, email, Slack, and other messaging options. You can tap Share QR code to have your visitors scan your unique QR code to instantly join your network.

How do I disable the guest network?

To disable the guest network, toggle off Enable guest network using either method above. Any previously connected devices will lose their connection to your guest network.

How is the guest network different from my main network?

Devices connected to your guest network are assigned IP addresses from a different range or subnet than your main network. This subnet is chosen automatically and will not overlap with your main network. Devices connected to the guest network cannot communicate with devices connected to the main network nor with each other, because they are on different subnets. For example, a laptop connected to the guest network will not be able to stream music on a Sonos speaker connected to the guest network nor on an Echo connected to the main network.
