What is Mobile Roaming?

Mobile Roaming is a feature that lets your eeros broadcast a separate, ISP-managed wifi network to help extend secure mobile coverage nearby. Think of it as your eero broadcasting two signals: your private home network (for you and your household) and a separate network managed entirely by your provider. These two networks are kept separate from each other, and your home network stays private.

When Mobile Roaming is enabled, compatible devices can automatically connect to this provider-managed network without needing a password. This helps improve coverage in areas where cellular signals can be weak, such as concrete structures, garages, or dense residential areas. With a stronger connection over wifi, you can make and receive phone calls, send texts, and keep mobile services working when your cellular signal drops. All connections are encrypted using WPA2/WPA3, so you get strong security without needing to configure anything.

How does Mobile Roaming keep my network private?

Your personal wifi and the Mobile Roaming network are two different networks. They are kept separate from each other, which means:

  • Other devices connecting through Mobile Roaming cannot see your personal devices, files, or browsing activity

  • Your home wifi speed and performance are not affected

  • Your internet plan and data are not shared with Mobile Roaming users

  • All Mobile Roaming traffic is encrypted using WPA2/WPA3, the same security standard used by banks and large businesses

  • Your ISP manages and secures the Mobile Roaming network, so there's nothing for you to configure

How do I enable or disable Mobile Roaming?

You can manage Mobile Roaming in the eero app:

  1. Open the eero app, and tap Settings.

  2. Tap Additional wifi networks.

  3. Tap Mobile Roaming.

  4. Toggle Mobile Roaming on or off.

Note: If your ISP enabled this setting, you may see a banner that says "This setting was enabled by your ISP." You can still toggle Mobile Roaming off if you prefer not to participate.

Does Mobile Roaming affect my wifi performance?

No. Mobile Roaming is designed to operate in the background without impacting your home wifi speed, reliability, or everyday performance.
