What is eero's Zigbee Smart Home Hub?

What is a 'hub'?

A smart home hub connects all compatible devices so they can communicate with one another and be controlled through a single interface. Compatible eeros combine your network and smart home hub into one device.

How do I use eero's built-in Zigbee smart home hub?

To activate your built-in hub, link your eero and Amazon accounts in the eero App. Once linked, you can connect compatible Zigbee devices with Alexa using the Alexa app or any Echo product. You can control those Alexa-enabled devices with your voice and set up scenes and schedules to automate your home.

To set up a Matter or Zigbee device on your eero network:

1. Open the eero App, and tap Settings in the bottom-right corner

2. Tap Advanced networking

3. Under Integrations, tap Amazon Connected Home

4. Tap Smart Home Hub

5. Tap the Discover Zigbee devices button

6. Tap the Open Alexa App button to pair one or more Zigbee devices

How do I connect Philips Hue Bulbs to my eero network? The Alexa app says to add a hub.

This is a known issue and easily worked around in the Alexa app. To add Philips Hue products to your eero network:

1. Tap the "+" then Add Device in the Alexa app

2. Scroll down to "Other"

You can also say "Alexa, discover devices" to discover Philips Hue products.

If you need to reset a Philips Hue product before adding it:

1. Tap "+" then Add Device

2. Tap "?" in the top-right corner

3. Tap the link under "How do I put my Zigbee device into pairing mode?"

4. Scroll down to Philips Hue and tap Reset Philips Hue Light. This will require the six digit code on the product

What Zigbee products can I connect to eero?

Compatible eeros support the same Zigbee accessories as Amazon Echo devices with built-in Zigbee hub. Look for devices with the Zigbee logo and filter for "Works with Alexa" on Amazon.

How many Zigbee devices can eero support?

Compatible eeros can support up to 50 Zigbee devices per eero.

What happens if I turn off or remove an eero from my network?

If you turn off or remove an eero, the Zigbee devices connected to that eero will no longer be reachable. You will need to reconnect your Zigbee devices with Alexa using the Alexa app.

Should I move my Zigbee devices from another hub to eero?
