What is Smart Queue Management (SQM)?

Smart Queue Management (SQM) can help reduce latency and improve quality for voice calls, video calls, and online gaming. SQM works by intelligently managing how wifi traffic is queued, which limits bandwidth usage on certain devices.

SQM has the biggest impact with activities that require high bandwidth and low latency — for example, streaming 4K video while browsing the web or playing a video game. While SQM ensures every device still has bandwidth access, you may see slower performance on certain devices.

Note: SQM is not available on eero networks in bridge mode. See What features do I lose if I put my eeros in bridge mode?

How do I enable SQM?

To enable SQM:

  1. Open the eero App, and tap Settings in the bottom-right corner

  2. Tap Advanced networking

  3. Under Network services, tap SQM

  4. Tap the toggle button. The button will turn blue to indicate SQM is enabled
