Why does my eero have a red LED?

A red LED means your eero isn't receiving an internet connection. This can happen for many reasons, but if all of your eeros are showing a red LED, it commonly means your upstream connection isn't communicating with your Primary eero. See the following scenarios to narrow down where your issue may be.

What if only one eero has a red LED?

For wireless eeros

  • Unplug the eero from power for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

  • If the red LED returns, move the eero closer to another eero in your network. See Where should I place my eeros? for placement tips.

  • Soft Reset the Primary eero. See How do I reset my eero? for instructions

  • Connect it to another eero with an Ethernet cable

For wired eeros

Test your Ethernet connection to identify whether the issue is with the eero, cable, or port:

  1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the offline eero.

  2. Connect the same cable to a laptop or computer.

  3. Check if the device can access the internet.

If the device has internet, the issue is likely with the eero:

  1. Unplug the eero from power for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

  2. If the red LED returns, try connecting the eero to a different Ethernet port or cable.

  3. If the red LED persists, perform a soft reset on the eero. See How do I reset my eero? for instructions.

If the device doesn't have internet, the issue is with the cable, port, or your internet connection:

  1. Try a different Ethernet cable

  2. Try a different Ethernet port

  3. If neither works, confirm your Primary eero is online

If you can't resolve the wired connection, try removing the Ethernet cable and placing the eero within range of another eero to connect wirelessly. This is a temporary workaround and won't fix the underlying wired connection issue. If replacing the cable or switching ports doesn't resolve the problem, eero Support can help troubleshoot further.

Note: The eero PoE Gateway does not support wireless connections and must be connected using Ethernet or PoE.
